Storyboard Text

  • The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe
  • Tone
  • Word Choice
  • The speaker killed an old man because he didn't like his eye, and then he admitted to killing him in front of the police because there was  this sound in his ears.
  • Imagery
  • "Louder it became, and louder. Why did the men not go? Louder, Louder." This shows anxiety because this sound of the dead man's heart keeps getting louder, which is making him anxious, but it is only in his head, he is only imagining it.
  • Style
  • My word choice is "Now he knew that Death was standing there." I picked this because death was capitalized, which means that Death is a person.
  • Theme
  • My imagery is "first I cut off the head, then the arms and legs." When the author writes this I can see it in my mind.
  • My piece of style is the repetition of the word louder. This shows style because using this word makes the man more anxious and scared.
  • The theme of this story is negative choices lead to negative consequences. My quote that shows this is "Yes! Yes, I killed him." This means that when he killed the man, which is a negative choice he was caught for it and will be put in jail, which is a negative consequence.
