  • What is my life purpose?
  • It was previously believed that the only true place for the woman was in the home. The concept of Republican motherhood inspired some of these beliefs. Women were to raise responsible sons who would participate in government. However, after World War 1 when women helped in factories to replace the men, they wanted to keep this newly found freedom.

  • After decades of work, the idea of women having the power became less radical and more acceptable. As women stepped up to fulfill men's roles in factories during World War 1, they proved themselves. Under Woodrow Wilson the 19th Amendment was finally passed, giving women the right to vote. This changed the role of woman in society forever.Voting means proper education is necessary, education means jobs, jobs mean economic independence and economic independence equals freedom (theoretically).
  • The world men pictured where women had the power to vote.(Or do anything really) 
  • Women were not only radically changing their roles in the family and in the government, they were changing their roles in society. "Flappers" emerged as fun was prioritized. Clothing changed and some women were thrown in jail for wearing clothes that were too revealing.
  • Electricity allows for the invention of the washing machine, Birdseye frozen food and vacuum cleaner.
  • The invention of these devices (along with birth control to come) allowed women much more freedom and enabled them to have time to do other things. 
  • Jobs are now a feasible option for women! The work in the home will be completed quickly and women can enter the workforce.
  • The revolution of women in the home, government, society and workplace all were essential in the 1920's as many capable women would be needed to contribute on the homefront in World War 2.
  • The advancements made in the 1920's for women's rights were massively important for the future of America. The practice it gave Americans for accepting progressive change is important for embracing change in the future.
