Henry Hudson was born sometime between the 1560's and the 1570's, and its believed that he worked as a cabin boy when he was young. So he was already experienced on his first voyage.

Henry Hudson's grandfather was said to be a part of a trading company known as the Muscovy Company. This influenced Henry's early life, because it made him very wealthy and rich.

Henry's first voyage was to find a shorter route to Asia, from Europe, in 1607. But, he had been turned back by ice the past two times he tried.

Hudson was now on his third voyage, behalf of the Dutch East India Company–in 1609. But, he chose to continue more east, to a southern route, due to reports of channel across North America. After navigating the Atlantic coast, his ships sailed to a river, which turned to be the Hudson river, but turned back because it was not the channel they sought.
On his fourth, and final voyage for England in 1610-11, Hudson spent months drifting through the vast, and lately feel in mutiny by his crew
Henry Hudson had major accomplishments, even though most of his voyages had failed. He found New York, and has three natural features named of him. One you might know as the Hudson River.
