Storyboard Text

  • Chapter 7
  • You reckon we oughta write a letter to whoever is leaving us these things?
  • That'd be nice, Jem, we can thank 'em
  • Chapter 7
  • Chapter 12
  • It's time you started bein' a girl and acting right
  • Calpurnia...?
  • Scout and Jem decide to leave a note to whoever is leaving the gifts in the knothole. This scene describes his coming of age because Jem sees that not everything in the world is fair or good, since something that only brought joy to the kids had been destroyed.
  • Scout sees that Jem had been crying silently outside after they figured out the knothole had been filled. Jem is sad about the knothole, but doesn’t want Scout to know that he had been crying because he doesn't want her to think that it is a big deal.
  • Jem tells Scout to grow up and starting acting right, the way older and more girly girls should act. Jem always liked the way Scout acted, but as he grows up, he starts to agree with Aunt Alexandra, that Scout should start acting like a “young lady”.
