  • Battle of Chancellorsville
  • The unorganized Confederacy was up against the Union army, which mostly consisted of volunteers. Though they were unorganized the Confederacy won and on July 21, 1861 the North realized the war might be more than they anticipated.
  • Battle of Gettysburg
  • On September 17, 1862, with hungry and sick troops, the Confederacy was loosing and with the Union pressing down the Confederacy lost over 23,000 troops in one of the bloodiest battles of the War
  • Battle of Sailor's Creek
  • The Confederacy boldly split their troops in two between April 30-May 6, 1863. The Union, intimidated by the two forces fell back and retreated across the Rappahannock River, leaving "Stonewall" Jackson mortally wounded.
  • Retreat!!!!
  • On July 1-3, 1863, the Union stopped the Confederate's invasion of the North by pushing back the Confederates, who were overconfident and resulted in enormous casualties.
  • After a hard battle, the Confederacy tried to retreat but the Union blocked them. Over the course of three battles, the Union finally captured over one-fourth of the Confederate army on April 6, 1865, including three generals were taken. Three days later both armies knew the war was over and the Confederacy surrendered.
  • We surrender, just give 'em back
