Storyboard Text

  • Serfs and Peasants
  • Peasants are split into 2 categories, free and unfree. I am an unfree peasant, a.k.a. a Serf.
  • Working on the Farm
  • This isn't fair!
  • Taxes
  • I am really struggling. The lord needs money, so he demanded a lot of taxes that I have to pay!
  • This is Serf Owen. He was alive in the Middle Ages, and does long and hard work for the king.
  • No Moving Up
  • Because of Feudalism, I can't move up in society!
  • His day starts very early, sometimes even at 3am! The worst part was, he didn't even get payed. He only got to farm for himself on a small piece of land.
  • Escaping
  • I am going to break out, no more working 4 days a week in the farm!
  • Whenever the lord was struggling, he could demand a tax, also known as tallage. Serfs had to pay that money, along with a yearly payment called "head money."
  • Animal Friends
  • Here we have Petunia, Betsy, and Fluffy.
  • Serf Owen just woke up from a dream very mad. He had a dream that he was a knight, but he probably will never be one because of Feudalism.
  • Haha!
  • Serf Owen tried to escape from his fief, but he got lost. Serfs were supposed to stay serfs according to Feudalism.
  • Back in the Medeival times, it was normal for Serfs to share a house with their animals. Serf Owen shared a house with a cow, a pig, and a sheep.
