One of the problems with the articles of confederation was the lack of a president. The lack of a president meant that there was no leader or head of the government. Without the president they couldn't stop conflicts between states.
Farmers put their money into crops. When they harvested the crops they didn't sell. Add taxes onto that and we were put into a big depression.
The Constitutional Convention
George Washington was a well respected leader of the continental army. His leadership skills were exellent and he inspired many. Because of his actions in the war he was made the head of the continental convention.
James Madison was the youngest delegate. He wrote the whole constitution by himself. He was known as "The Father of the Constitution".
The Constitutional Convention was a meeting of delegates from all the states. The convention brought up many ideas like the amount of houses or how many representatives or how the amount of delegates were determined.
The Constitutional Convention made many great ideas. One of these is the amount of representatives per house and the three fifths compromise. The Convention created a lot for our government.
