The Kimbulls are eating their first family dinner together after purchasing their new Pet. They discuss a new name for her, and Penn, the Congressman's son, suggests Ella. They like the name, so Ella it is.
A Friendship is Born
Ella, per her rules as a pet, isn't allowed to eat with the family. She eats separately at her own table.
After dinner, Penn an Ella have their first conversation. He asks her about her interests, and she tells him dancing, singing, and piano. She asks the same, and he confesses that he also has a passion for music. They appear to have a new bond.
Ella and the Congressman's daughter go back up to the child's room where they further get to know each other. The girl tells Ella that she is always welcome, and if she ever wants to play games, that her door is always open.
Ella becomes accustom to her room as she settles in for the night.
The nest day, the Congressman invites over several of his fellow politicians to show off Ella. She is instructed to sit and look pretty while they are there, which is the main reason she was purchased in the first place. She does as she's told, but aches to play the piano. She misses being able to play when she pleases.
