John Cabot was a Italian navigator, but without the funds from Italy, he decided to go and sail for England. There he made three voyages, the first ending in failure when bad weather and shortage of supplies came. The second they landed on shore and spent some weeks exploring the coast. The final voyage was were we believe Cabot was lost at sea.
Samuel de Champlain explored the St.Lawrence in 1603 and came back later into the bay of Fundy where he established Port-Royal. Then in 1608 he established the "command center" of New France, Quebec. This was later a pivotal point in may wars and in the expansion of the Colony.
