Storyboard Text

  • Why should we use wind energy?
  • Did you hear? Fossil fuels are heating up the earth! What are we going to do?
  • Well, first we need to find a reliable, renewable energy resource, like wind energy, or energy harvested from wind turbines.
  • Well, wind energy can be collected anywhere. Wherever there is wind, wind energy can be made. This is good because wind energy can be used nationwide, because of how common wind is.
  • Oh yeah! TheWind Vision Report and that it stated that by 2050, wind energy will be able to be used nationwide! And states like Kansas, South Dakota, and others have about 30% of their energy as wind.
  • Also, There is no carbon dioxide created by the natural resource itself, making it a clean new resource and part of the solution to global warming.
  • Speaking of that, the Wind Vision Report for 2050 stated that by 2050, wind energy could prevent the emission of 12.3 gigatons of greenhouse gasses
  • Finally, wind energy is accessible without almost any disruption of the earth. Wind forms naturally on earth. Therefore it is always accessible and you don’t have to alter the environment in order to get wind power.
  • That makes sense because wind forms because of Earth's uneven heating and the differences of elevation on earth. You can harvest wind energy without too much disruption of Earth's surface, as you don't need to alter the natural land to get the energy.
  • But what happens when it's not windy outside and there's nothing to turn the turbine?
  • Wind can be harvested higher up where it is windier or close to the ocean (or even on it) where there's a sea breeze or land breeze almost always.
  • Wind energy really is the future. When fossil fuels poison the earth when used, and we’re running out of unrenewable resources, wind doesn’t have any of those negative effects.
  • Wind energy doesn’t hurt the environment, and it’s renewable. We can safely use this energy resource in our future.
