Alex meets with Larry the Rock and learns about weathering, erosion, and deposition
Meeting With Larry the Rock
Hello Alex! You've come to the right place. I can teach you all about it!
Oh hi, i'm Alex! You must be Larry the Rock. I'm here to learn about weathering, erosion, and deposition.
Wonderful! Thank You
Hey Larry what is weathering?
That's a great question! Weathering is a process where rocks are broken down into smaller pieces by water and wind. High winds can cause larger rocks to fall from higher areas and break into smaller rocks. Water can cause rocks to crack and break when it reacts to the chemicals in the rock as well as the freezing and melting of water on the rocks.
This is Alex. She is a scientist who is trying to find out more about weathering, erosion, and deposition.
Ok, so what about erosion? What is that?
I'm glad you asked Alex. Erosion is when water, wind, or ice move sediment rocks from one place to another different place. Erosions can be either slow or fast. They can form different landforms and caves.
Alex found the key to help her...Larry the Rock. The help from him was all she needed to get the information that she wanted.
Lastly, can you tell me about deposition?
Thank You for the information, Larry. I learned a lot today!
Sure. The process of deposition is when the rocks or soil moved by erosion are left behind in a different place by wind, water, and ice.
What is weathering?
What is erosion?
What is deposition? After spending all day with Larry the rock, Alex got all the information that she planned on getting.
