  •  He would get much better schooling in town than in the little country school where all the grades were in just two rooms. 
  • "You think you're too good for us," Uncle Luis shouted at Papa in Spanish, "just because you finished high school and have a job in town! My God! We grew up in the country. Our parents and grandparents grew up in the country. If New Mexico coun­try was good enough for them—"
  • I shook my head urgently. "Not me," I said in all innocence. "It must have been somebody else."

  • "You stepped on my foot, big eyes. And your big eyes are going to get it for that."

  • "flash gordo"
  • Uncle Luis was upset believing that his brother was leaving the family behind to go to a better area for his work. But in reality it was for Luis brothers son so he can get better schooling.

  • " lets go get him!"
  • The narrator stepped on Changos foot earlier and Chango confronted him for it by trying to hurt him but backfired and the narrator tripped him, his confidence was enough to join Changos crew "Los Indios" and to do more troubling things with them.

  • "It would be nice for the boys to go together," 
  • The "Los Indios" favorite spot to hang out was the "Rat House". A movie theater where they would play old Spanish movies. but that wasnt their favorite things to do, their favorite thing to do was to mess with the owner which they nicknamed him " Flash Gordo" because of his physique,  messing with him from putting rats on the floor to running around the theater.

  •  "What's he doing here?"
  • A new student was next door to the narrator house. But, he was an Anglo, because he is an Anglo the kids chased him like riding on a horse and when they caught him Chango threw a punch at him and the boy scurried off.
  •  It's not fair! You didn't ask me!
  • The two boys finally get to meet and with the company of their mom and they just stood silent except for their mothers where they wanted them to hang out in the movie theater like the Rat House.
  •  "He's an albino Indian from Oklahoma,"
  • Denver and the narrator arrives to the Movie theater and meeting the group with them. The group was upset so the narrator had to lie that Denver was an albino Indian which was enough for the group to believe him and they accepted Denver into the group and watch the movie. Fast forward a few years and the narrator is reminded of that day and he realized that he has become the alien, living under a white skinned area.
