  • Israel?! The journey will be so long! I don't even know if my people will agree!
  • Abraham, if you take your people to Israel-
  • What's so bad about being different?
  • The Israelites are different! They must be slaves!
  • It must've been the Israelites that have cursed us all!
  • But why would they do all of these terrible things?!
  • The Patriarch, Abraham, made a covenant with God promising that if he and his family left Ur, and traveled to Canaan, that one day this would be the promised land of his descendants. Years later, a famine struck in Canaan. Abraham’s grandson Jacob and his family fled to Egypt. As the Isrealites grew more numerous and practiced the religion of monotheism, the Pharaoh became mistrustful and enslaved them all!
  • You want us out? Why didn't you say so earlier?
  • Take your people away from here!
  • Moses was a Hebrew that was raised in the palace of the Pharaoh in Egypt. He wanted to leave the palace because the Pharaoh was enslaving the Hebrews. The Pharaoh would not let the Hebrews out of slavery.
  • What have you brought back Moses?
  • It is the ten commandments, given by God
  • Some punishments that the Pharaoh and the Egyptians experienced were sickness and swarms of insects that were killing the crops, and the finally, the death of the firstborn son of every Egyptian family. Moses told the Hebrews to spare the death of their firstborn son by taking the blood of a lamb and streaking on their doorway, so the Angel of Death would pass over that house.

  • The Pharaoh demanded that the Israelites leave Egypt, so Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the Sinai Peninsula. The Freedom of Hebrews is called Exodus and is remembered during the week of Passover.
  • The Israelites headed back towards Canaan through the Sinai Peninsula. Moses received the Ten Commandments and other laws from God at the top of Mt. Sinai. They tell the Israelites how to behave towards God and one another.
  • Joshua, Moses’ assistant, led the Israelites into Canaan and they conquered Jericho. The descendants of Jacob settled in different parts of Canaan, and other tribes settled to the north and east and conquered those places.
