Vergil was born on October 15th, 70 BC in the Italian town of Mantua
Growing up, he received an excellent education in Rome
Later, after the assassination of Julius Caesar, Vergil's father's land was taken away
This inspired Vergil to write the Eclogues and Georgics, two poems about farming. After their success, he began writing the Aeneid
Arma virumque cano,
Impressed by Vergil's work, Augustus invited him to travel to Rome together. Unfortunately, Vergil grew very ill on the journey.
As the Aeneid was unfinished, Vergil wished for it to be destroyed. Augustus, however, refused to do so. Vergil died with his greatest work unfinished.
