Evan Prence, at the age of 19 , is beginning to mature into a foul spirit. Nearly out of high school, he sits alone in his room at the top of his mother's home. The only thing that interests him is the world wide web. Until one Christmas Eve, when the ghost of a friend long past visited him.
You will be haunted by three spirits.
The first spirit, the Spirit of the Past, brought him back to the Christmas that his ever-distant father decided to completely devote himself to his work, leaving him and his mother to themselves.
These are shadows of things that have been.
Then the second spirit, the Spirit of the Present, brought Prence to the home of one of his classmates, who was having a Christmas get-together with other members of his class. He showed him the fun they were having together.
I see a vacant seat.
Lastly, the Spirit of the Future took him to the Christmas of his future. At the graveyard, he saw the grave of his mother, who was fated to pass on alone after Prence left high school.
Are these the shadows of things that Will be, or are they the shadow of things that May be, only?
Afterwards, on Christmas Day, Prence promised himself to take advantage of his youth, and spend time with others, especially with his mother. He would make real, human connections, rather than just wasting away by himself.
