  • Next we will move onto our one Solution Problem! A problem is no solution when it the two equations have then different slope, and different Y-Int.
  • First, we must add the equations togther so we can elimanate the Y's. Once we do that we are left with 7x = 35, and then we divide both sides by 7, which will give us X = 5.
  •      3x + y = 17 +     4x - y = 18 ----------------- 7x = 35 --     -- 7     7 x = 5
  • Next we will move onto our one Solution Problem! A problem is no solution when it the two equations have then different slope, and different Y-Int.
  • Next we are going to replace our X in the first equation with 5. Once we do that we get 15 + y = 17 We subtract 15 from both sides and get Y = 2. There is only one solution, which is (5,2) One solution will always be consistant and independent.
  •      3x + y = 17 +     4x - y = 18 ----------------- 7x = 35 --     -- 7     7 x = 5 3(5) + y = 17 15 + y = 17 y = 2 (5,2)
  • First we want to multiply our top equation by -2. Once we do that we are going to add the two equations which gives us 0 + 0 = -2. Which is 0 = -2. If there is no solution, it is inconsistent and independent. 
  • 3x + 2y = 5 6x + 4y = 8 ---------    -6x -4y = -10 +   6x + 4y = 8 -------------- 0 + 0 = -2  0 = -2
  • So tired...only one last problem next! I can totally do this. Phew.
  • Next we will move onto our infinite Solution Problem! A problem is no solution when it the two equations have then same slope, and same Y-int!
  • First we want to times our second equation by -2. Once we do that we are going to rewrite the problem and add it up. That gives us 0 + 0 = 0. if there are Infinite solutions, it is going to be consistent and dependent
  • 2x + 4y = 8 x + 2y = 4 ------------ 2x + 4 = 8 +  -2x -4y = -8 ---------- 0 + 0 = 0 0=0
