Storyboard Text

  • Feudalism
  • Monarchs
  • I have hired a lord. He is very good and I hope he finds good knights. I have given him good land too.
  • That's good. I was about to hire another one tomorrow if there was no progress.
  • Lords/Ladies
  • Good. Now set everything on the table. Everyone will be here now.
  • Lord, the pork, bread, and fruit pie fine for the party is ready.
  • The social status was arranged in a pyramid. It went from monarch, to lord, to knight, to peasent (specifically serfs who were tied to the land.)
  • Knights
  • I was trained since seven years as a page first, then a squire.
  • Monarchs (kings) did not have much money to protect the people but did have land. So they hired lords or ladies to protect the people in return for land.
  • Serfs
  • After this I need to go grind the grain at the mill. I hope we get enough grain ourselves.
  • Mom, here's the seeds you asked for.
  • Lords and ladies had a lot of parties and ate the best food. They were also lawyers. They had squires who were like servants. (Knights in training.)
  • Knights start training at seven as a page to a lord (often relative) and mostly helped the ladies. Then when they are teens they become a squire
  • Serfs were to grow crops, grind grain at the mill and pay taxes. The owners got to keep how much ever grain they wanted (that the serfs grinded) and the serfs got the rest.
