  • Violating Neutral Rights 
  • Im gonna stop your trades with France.
  • And I'm gonna stop your trades with Britain.
  • Noo
  • Impressment
  • You're going to join our navy and fight for us.
  • I don't want to join the navy!
  • The Chesapeake 
  • Open fire!!!
  • Britain and France were in a war, and the U.S stayed on neutral terms of the war so they could continue trading. Britain and France Tried to stop each other from trading with the U.S, this caused trading issues for the United States.
  • The Embargo Act
  • Im banning all trades with foreign countries!
  •  Britain captured any U.S deserters and made them join the British navy/army.
  • Broken Treaties 
  • Can you trade with us? We need supplies.
  • The Leopard's captain wanted to search the American ship for British deserters, but the Chesapeake's captain refused. It resulted in the British opening fire, injuring the Chesapeake and killing three crew members.
  • War Hawks
  • Lets go!!!
  • Lets go capture some of the U.S land!
  • The act targeted Great Britain, but the embargo banned imports from and exports to foreign countries. Jefferson wanted to prevent Americans from using other countries as go-betweens for forbidden trade.
  • Native Americans broke off from the U.S to trade with Britain and Canada.
  • Alright then.
  • The War Hawks supported increases in military spending and were driven by hunger for land. War Hawks also wanted to expand the nation's power.
