  • EXPOSITION
  • CONFLICT
  • He's not going to live for long.
  • RISING ACTION
  • The setting is on a small farm. We follow 'brother' and his younger brother Doodle.
  • CLIMAX
  • From birth Doodle was told that he wasn't going to live for long. Doodle is mentally challenged and often takes a longer time completing tasks. Brother finds it hard to acknowledge or accept this.
  • FALLING ACTION
  • BROTHER WAIT DON'T LEAVE ME!
  • Doodle finds a dead Scarlet Ibis which was caught in a storm. Throughout the story, the connection of the Scarlet Ibis and Doodle becomes apparent.
  • RESOLUTION
  • DOODLE!
  • Shortly after Doodle shows that he is too weak to handle anymore training. This makes brother upset with Doodle. A storm starts to roll in as brother plans on going home.
  • The brother starts to walk home but Doodle doesn't have enough energy to follow him. Doodle calls out "Brother wait, don't leave me."
  • Brother finds his brother dead and takes into consideration his own actions. "Pride can kill."
