It all began a fairy tale, born a prince in Nepal in 563 B.C.. Siddhartha's father meets with a fortune teller and says that Siddhartha will be king or a religious leader. Of course his father wants him to be king.
He was born a life of luxury, without experiencing any pain or sadness. As he got older, the prince never saw anyone sick, sad, or poor because everywhere he went guards would come with him. Then the prince got married and had a son.
Oh No he fainted!!!
When Siddhartha was about 29 he rode off with no guards and saw terrible sights. He saw an old man leaning on a stick he saw a shrunken man by disease, a man wounded, and a holy man but he was homeless.
If you give up your search, I will give you will be wealthy
He searched for truth about death and life, gurus taught that there was a path to escape. He joined a band of religious ascetics and he wore scratchy clothes. He ate less and less.
He got down to one grain of rice each day. One day he finally fainted from not eating enough. Then when he awoke he ate a big meal and so they kicked him out of the ascetics group.
Then he went and sat under a fig tree to meditate. He meditated for forty-nine days. Mara visited him to try to make him give up his search by offering him wealth. He refused so Mara made it rain rocks. Then he had escaped life, he had reached enlightenment.
