  • The Walrus lives in the Arctic region. The Arctic region is home to many animals including the polar bear, penguin, and seals. Even though the walrus lives in the arctic region, it spends about 2/3 of its life under the water.
  • Life Span
  • The Walrus eats clams, crabs, mussels, sea worms and large snails called whelks, it also eats seals. Adult walrus eats about 3,000 to 6,000 clams in a single feeding session. And adults eat about 3% to 6% of there total weight per day.
  • Weight
  • Calve: 165lb
  • Female: 2,000lb 
  • Male: 3,000lb
  • The walrus population is about 250,00. Pacific walruses number more than 200,000. The Pacific walrus population was severely reduced by hunting in the past, but their numbers have rebounded after these severe reductions.
  • Length
  • The walrus lives up to 40 years. Their longevity in captivity has not been studied in detail and hence information on ageing is limited. It takes approximately 15 to 16 months after mating for a young to arrive, called calves. 
  • Male adults usually weigh about 3,000. Female adults about 2,000 pounds. Calves only weigh 100 to 165 pounds at birth. 
  • Males can grow up to 12 feet long! And females at least 9 feet long! way taller then us! Walruses use there long bodies and flippers to glide through the water.
