Hello class! For today’s lesson we are going to talk about the process of photosynthesis and why it is important.
Photosynthesis begins with a plant absorbing the sun’s light energy. That energy is being absorbed by a cell part in the leaves. The cell part is call the chloroplast. The chloroplast has this green tint, that makes the leaves green. That green tint is called chlorophyll. The chlorophyll absorbs the light energy and transforming it into chemical energy. After the leaves absorb that energy, the plant also needs water and carbon dioxide. The water is taken in by the roots and the carbon dioxide goes through this part of the plant call stomata.
Once the plant had taken in all of these things, they all meet in the leaves. When they get to the leaves they all combine together producing two products, a sugar called glucose, and oxygen.Glucose is considered food for plants. While the glucose is being transported throughout the plant, the oxygen is being released into the air through the stomata. This process of photosynthesis is very important to all living things because without it, plants and animals would all die including humans. The plants need to their food and the animals need their oxygen to breath and if there is no photosynthesis, then there won’t be any oxygen and glucose produced.
