Information on a computer can measured in many different ways. Such as, Kilobytes, Megabyte, Gigabytes and Terabytes.
Kilobytes are about 1000 bytes
Megabyte are 1 million bytes
Gigabytes hold 1 billion bytes and Terabytes hold 240 Bytes
Shakespeare’s complete works have approximately 3.5 million characters. Which is bigger in file size: Shakespeare’s complete works stored in plain ASCII text or a 4 minute song on mp3? How much bigger?
Shakespeare's work would be about 3.5 MB and the 4-minute song would be about 7.68 MB meaning the mp3 file would be about 4.18 MB bigger
This lesson introduced us to different sizes of digital files. An email can contain about 2 KB while an MP3 file can contain 1 megabyte. This lesson showed us the real-life correlation of these different sizes
