Three rioters, "were sitting in a tavern for a drink"
After hearing that Death had killed their friend, the rioters, "in their drunken rage" marched out to go and kill Death.
After the rioters "reached the tree" where an old man told them Death would be, they found "a pile of golden florins on the ground".
After the youngest of the rioters ran back to town, following the plan they had made, the two older older rioters made "a bargain" to kill the youngest and split the gold "between the two of [them]"
Once the youngest came back from town, the two "fell on him and slew him" "exactly in the way they had planned his death" . The two older rioters then drank the wine the youngest had brought back from town. Not knowing he laced the bottles with poison they drank blindly, and later died from the poison.
In the end, Death prevailed and the "two murderers received their due, so did the treacherous youngpoisoner too."
