Al Capone Becomes A Gangster
Listen to me or I will kill you all.
Capone was a good student but falling behind later and had to repeat the sixth grade. One day, Capone’s teacher hit him for insolence and he struck back. The principal gave him a beating, and Capone never again returned to school.
Notorious Events
In 1917, Torrio introduced Capone to the gangster Frankie Yale, who employed Capone as bartender and bouncer at the Harvard Inn in Coney Island. It was there that Capone earned his nickname “Scarface.”
The Ending For Him
3 years later Al Capone becomes one of the most notorious gangsters. He ran massive bootlegging, prostitution and gambling rackets in Chicago. He controlled city officials, like judges, through bribery or intimidation.
The most notorious events associated with Capone were “The St Valentine's Day Massacre” 1929 when he ordered the murder of seven of his main rivals, and “The Last Supper” 1929 when he personally battered three Sicilians with a baseball bat.
In 1931 Capone was finally arrested not on murder or racketeering but on tax evasion, and successfully prosecuted. After the ending of Prohibition organised crime was less visible, but it remained powerful.
