  • Michelangelo is an sculptor,engineer,painter,architect, and poet. He started out his work as an apprentice to the Medici family.Later in life he created some of the most famous works in the world. Like the ceiling of the Sistine chapel, the Pieta, and David. 
  • Michelangelo 1475 - 1564
  • Painting this ceiling took 4 years. I hung  upside down painting in very close detail. This was a humanist work because it showed the use of human anatomy and perspective.  It was also a work of the here and now which makes its a humanist piece. 
  • 1508 -  1512 Michelangelo paints the Sistine Chapel ceiling  
  • Michelangelo was a humanist. He focused om personal achievement while working on his many famous sculptures.  He used modern techniques to the time. Like human anatomy and perspective in his painting. He created things that used bright color and did not entirely focus on religion. this made him a Renaissance man.

  • Machiavelli was a Italian tinker and writer. He had a job in government but then he lost that job and stayed his work on writings. Some of his most famous work was The Prince and Discourses on Livy.  
  • Niccolo Machiavelli 1469 - 1527 
  • This book was one of Machiavelli's greatest works . It was a novel on the republic. He wrote about how power was checked with this system of government. The system of government talked about helped develop the US government as we know it today. Talking about the government which was a here and now things shows humanism.  
  • Discourses on Livy 1531
  • Machiavelli was a humanist. In his writings he wrote about what was happening right then and there. Not what could occur. Talking about the present was a main way that people used humanism. He also mainly talked about society and government in his books. He did not write about religion which was a new idea in the Renaissance.
