Storyboard Text

  • President Kennedy, why was the Summit with Nikita Khrushchev so unsuccessful in building trust between the U.S. and the Soviet Union?
  • Well, we both had different views on Berlin, and it just created more tension because we couldn't agree on much.
  • Why did you increase ballistic missile forces, add more army divisions, and begin more nuclear testing in 1962?
  • I wanted to be prepared for any intervening the U.S. would have to do if the conflict over the Berlin wall continued to grow.
  • Do you think the U.S. would have been prepared for another violent war? Especially after we just got out of WWII?
  • I do believe the U.S. would have been in good enough shape to intervene, because I was very dominant on making sure the military was prepared.
