  • When the french settled in montreal, the first nations and them fought over hunting grounds. because the french were not getting furs to trade, the where losing money.

  • But neither the first nations or the french wanted it to be like this. so the french invited all the first nations to montreal. The first nations came on foot, canoe and horseback.
  • THe french were very exited to welcome the many first nations when they came.
  • The treaty rules where that the two nations would not start war on each other, that they could all use the hunting grounds north, and west of lake ontario. the treaty also said that if there where disagreements in the future, the french govornor would settle them
  • When the singing later happened, the french made sure that their traditions where included in the ceremonies, as well as the first nations. As a gift , the french gave the tribes a wampum,that told their unique story.
  • When the signing happened, each of the first nations tribes collective identity was shown, because each group had their own unique signature, in witch they singed the treaty with.
