  • DONT FEAR THE CARBS!  By: Makayla Mckoy
  • Carbohydrates are the main and preferred energy source for exercise. The body needs support of glucose as  an energy fuel. Carbohydrates in a balanced diet provides the most energy. 
  • Refined carbs are grain products that have been processed by a food manufacturer so that the whole grain is no longer produced. Examples whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and beans. complex carbs
  • When our bodies doesn't get enough carbs in food Hypoglycemia start to happen! Hypoglycemia is not enough carbs means low blood sugar.  If you don't have enough glucose from carbs to burn, your body will start burning fat! Which is called ketosis.
  • When we eat to much our bodies our fat cell produce "leptin" which binds with  your brain to tell you you're no longer hungry. Eating more than your body can take causes your body to produce more of this hormone, as leptin levels are rising  to the amount of body fat a person has.
  • Unrefined carbohydrates, are when the carbohydrate food is in its natural or unprocessed state and is not striped of certain nutrients.  Examples of  white bread, pizza dough, pasta, pastries, white flour, white rice, and cereals. simple carbs
  • refined carbohydrates are forms of sugars and starches. Examples white rice, Instant oatmeal, corn, chips complex carbs 
  •  Unrefined carbs are processed, rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber.  Examples are legumes, fruits, and uncooked vegetables simple carbs
