After the third estate declared themselves the National Assembly, they moved to an indoor tennis court since they feared that the king would dismiss them at their meeting hall. There, they took their tennis court Oath. This represented a step towards democracy since they swore to never separate until they established a sound and just constitution.
Reign of Terror

The people stormed the Bastille since they thought had weapons stored inside the Bastille. They did so for protection because they believed that the royal troops were coming to Paris. This event helped push the power from the monarchy to the people.
Rise of Napoleon
The March to Versailles was a march for women that opposed the queen and her lifestyle. Many women chanted "we want bread" as they headed to Versailles to get the royal family back to France. This event helped push for democracy because the people then saw King Louis as a traitor for trying to escape the mess he had made
During the Reign of Terror, Robespierre abused his power and had 7,000 people beheaded and was eventually beheaded himself. This event helped push towards a democracy because the committee was abusing their power.
Whit the French Revolution happening the politicians felt threatened by everything that went on. Later they turned to Napoleon and planned to use him to advance their own goal. However, Napoleon would outsmart them and become the ruler of France
