The muttering and growling of the sea breaking on a rocky shore. He was almost on the rocks before he saw them; on a night less calm he would have been shattered against them. With his remaining strength he dragged himself from the swirling waters. He forced himself upward, hand over hand.
Rainsford met General Zaroff. Raindford finds out he hunts humans because he was getting bored of hunting animals. General Zaroff says that he is going to hunt him because regular people are boring to hunt because they are to predictable. So, if Rainsford wants to leave the island he has to win "the game."
The games begin and General Zaroff gives Rainsford a head start. Rainsford sets three different traps to out smart General Zaroff and his hounds.
Rainsford could hear the hounds gaining on him. He runs until he reaches the cliff of the island. He has doubt of jumping off but, he doesn't want to die so he jumps into the ocean.
Rainsford goes back to General Zaroff's house and waits for him their. When he shows up he is ambushed by Rainsford and is killed. He is fed to the hounds.
The story end with Rainsford going to sleep and thinking that he has never slept so soundly in is life.
