  • Once the Inca left the Andes mountains, they settled in the Valley of Cuzco.They developed traditions such as the one that the chief descended from the sun god.
  • Let's settle here!
  • When Pachacuti took the throne, he led his people to conquer. The Inca ended up with 2,500 miles of land as a result.
  • Let us conquer!!
  • Pachacuti and his successors used diplomacy to gain new land. They only used force when necessary. Even after using force they would treat the people in a diplomatic way in an effort to gain their loyalty.
  • If you give up peacefully, we will allow you to keep your own customs and rulers as long as you give us loyalty.

  • The Inca founded schools to teach their language and ways. They also established a class system based on pattern of clothing. Both they did to unify the variety of people they ruled.
  • Yes. It is required to learn the Inca ways and Quecha, their language. Much like how we have to wear this pattern of clothing.

  • The Inca built roads that all lead back to their capital, Cuzco. They also built government buildings that made the presence of government visual and apparent.

  • The ayllu was a system based off of a community's cooperation. There was different levels of this system, until it led to the whole empire.
  • We're going to need the ayllu's help for this.
