The war started between Sparta and Athens. It lasted from 431 BC to 404 BC. The first Peloponnesian War lasted 10 years.
Athens dominated the sea. Athens also built long walls all the way from the city to the seaport. Many people died in Athens from plague.
Take down these walls now.
Sparta dominated the land. Sparta gathered allies to conquer Athens. They even enlisted the help from the Persians. They let them have money to build fleet ships.
Athens became very wealthy and powerful and the Athenian empire became under the leadership the Pericles. Sparta and its allies became jealous and distrusted Athens.
Spartans refused to destroy the city so they enslave its people. Sparta made Athens take down the walls. People in Athens began to starve after there ruler died in a fleet battle.
In 404 BC Athens was surrendered by Spartans. So that means Sparta wins. Yay. And the crowd goes wild.
