  • A day on Earth is about 24 hours long, another word for the day is a rotation. A year on Earth is about 365 days, it's also called a revolution. Man, in the real world people don't even think about how many revolutions around the sun they've experienced!
  • The moon takes about 30 days to revolve around Earth. When the revolution first starts, the moon phases are "waxing." When the revolution is ending, the moon phases are "Waning." A way people rember it is "Wax on, Wane off" like karate kid. Wax on Wax off.

  • For the moon to revolve around the sun, it goes through different phases. 
  • During a spring tide, there is the highest high tide and lowest low tide. 
  • During the first and last quarter moons, there are neap tides. 
  • In a neap tide, the average of tide levels are a little less than a high tides average.
