  • "Although, instead of the lighting flashing behind the thumb, in Stanley's mind, the lighting was coming out of the thumb, as if it were the thumb of god.", but it was a mountain that's top looked like a thumb.
  • Figurative language is a language that makes you go beyond literal meaning.
  • "Whenever anything went wrong, they always blamed Stanley's no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather." This is direct characterization because they give personality traits about his grandfather straight from the text.
  • Direct Characterization is when in the story it states a personality trait.
