  • Antibiotic resistant DNA
  • A bacteriophage infects the cell
  • host chromosome
  • parts of the bacteriophage
  • piece of host DNA
  • Host chromosome in new phage
  • A bacteriophage/virus infects the bacteria with the antibiotic resistant DNA.
  • The bacteriophage then takes over the bacteria cell. This makes the cell's chromosomes break down.
  • The new phage
  • When the phage assembles in the bacteria cell the broken down chromosomes are incorporated into a new phage.
  • Then, the bacteria cell breaks and releases the newly assembled phages.
  • The cell breaks open and the new phages are released
  • Next, a phage will then go into a cell and repeat the transduction process.
