Storyboard Text

  • On October 31, 1950, a Korean General nicknamed the "Tiger" took over many prisoners of war and lead them on a death march.
  • He declared that they would march until they died and that the prisoners would receive no water.
  • Not receiving water would have killed all of them, but on the second day it started to snow, so the prisoners ate the snow off of other people to get their water instead.
  • When they reached the war camp near the Siberian border, Wayman Simpson was there for around 38 months, unable to shave, shower, cut his hair, or brush his teeth. For 26 months, he had two open wounds on his leg that were left untreated. When he came home, he weighed around 77 pounds.
