  • Thousands of years ago, science was overlooked. Nobody knew what matter was made of, and nobody cared.
  • But I'm telling you! We're not the center of the world!
  • Heretic!
  • Then, A scientist named Democritus realized that everything is made of small pieces. He found this out b cutting cheese into smaller and smaller pieces.
  • I will call these pieces Atmos!
  • Not much happened until 1808, when John Dalton theorized that everything is made up of small uncharged spheres.
  • Eureka!
  • But people still couldn't explain why atoms stuck together. Then, Michael Faraday theorized that atoms had charges and opposites stuck together.
  • Wait... What if they DID have charge?
  • But That Still Wasn't right! So JJ Thompson came up with the idea that an atom was mostly positive with some negative. He called it the raisin bun model...
  • This bun looks like something, but I can't put a finger on it...
  • After a very important experiment, Ernest Rutherford concluded that atoms have a nucleus and are mostly empty space.
  • What If the atoms are mostly empty space?
