  • Jackson was elected by the "common people" these were the laborers, the farmers, and the frontiersman. He called himself the speaker of the "common man"Jackson wanted to expand democracy and let more people vote. This changed politics to be an activity for common people.
  • The nullification crisis of 1828-1833
  • If you make us follow this dumb tax then we're gonna sucede

  • The spoils system was where Jackson fired most of the existing federal employees and replaced them with the people that had supported him in the past 4 years even if they weren't the most qualified. The Impact was that People made fun of them and called them the "Kitchen Cabinet"
  • Indian Removal act/ Trail of Tears
  • No! I don't want to even if your gonna make me
  • The kitchen cabinet was where Jackson took advice from unqualified sources so his opponents started calling his advisors the "kitchen Cabinet" because people thought that they were inadequate. The impact of this was that it leads to the corruption of the government.
  • The Bank War
  • Im gonna take all the money out of here so that I can end the bank for good!
  • a new tax angered the south so South Carolina passed a law to nullify the new tax. They threatened to secede from the union if they were forced to follow it. Jackson passed the "Force bill" to enforce the law. This lead to nullification as a looming issue.
  • The removal of over 16,000 Natives West. Over 1/4  of the people who moved, died.  Jackson paved the road for this federal action. This made an impact because it marked a point where native Americans lost all semblance of power.
  • You have to leave! Go to Indian territory! Now! 
  • Jackson believed that the bank of the US was unconstitutional even though the court case McCulloch VS Maryland had found it to be constitutional. Jackson removed all money from the National Bank and ended it again, this lead to a lot of controversy.
