- The first five of the ten Buddhist precepts prohibit: harming living beings, stealing, indulging in sexual misconduct, lying, and becoming intoxicated. The precepts also include a counter action to understand why its not wise to do these things. Such as respecting life, because all living beings want to live, and experience fear and struggle when being killed.
