A coast guard boat picked up Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. They were all wet. Percy said that the prophecy did come true, just Hades wasn't the god that turned. He realized that it was Ares. Percy said that it was a trick worthy of Athena. Ares appeared with his baseball bat.
Drop the guns!
Percy confronted Ares. He said that Ares stole the bolt and the helm, which Ares said wasn't true. Ares said that another hero stole it, and that it was a perfect ploy to start a war. Percy realized that Ares caught the thief, but let him go because he was convinced. Ares said that he didn't listen to dreams, which confused Percy. Ares said that he wanted to kill Percy so he summoned a boar.
The wild boar charged out of the sand. Percy told Ares to fight him himself. Ares refused, and then the wild boar charged at Percy. Percy severed its tusk and then summoned a wave that engulfed the boar. Ares agreed to fight Percy the classic way. Annabeth and Grover wished Percy luck and gave him gifts.
Ares and Percy started fighting and cops arrived, recognizing Percy. Percy's ADHD and dyslexia were helping him in battle. Ares said that Percy had no hope. The police commanded them to drop their guns but Ares roared that it was private matter and set fire to the police cars.
Ares was grinning and preparing to kill Percy, but then a six foot wall of water smashed him. Percy stabbed him in his heel and ichor, the blood of the gods spilled out. A heavy presence stopped Ares. He told Percy that he had made an enemy and then turned into his true form. Ares was gone.
Percy picked up the helm of darkness, gave it to the Furies, and told them to tell Hades to call off the war. Mrs. Dodds cackled and told him to become a true hero. Percy got his backpack and told Annabeth and Grover that they would have to fly in a plane. They were uneasy about the dark presence.
