  • Please count how many times the team wearing white passes the basketball
  • The video played and the participant counted how many times the ball passed. During the video, a woman dressed as a gorilla slowly walked across the scene, stopped in the middle, and left the other side.
  • The participant was then asked how many times they saw a ball pass, and then if they saw anything unusual. A lot of participants didn't notice anything unusual, and didn't see the gorilla at all.
  • I counted 16 passes.
  • Huh?! No, I only saw the basketball players!
  • It was actually 16 passes, but did you notice the woman with an umbrella!?

  • The video played and the participant counted how many times the ball passed. During the video, a woman holding a black umbrella slowly walked across the scene and left the other side.
  • 1, 2, 3... ect...
  • Once again, the participant was asked how many times they saw a ball pass, and if they saw anything unusual. A lot of the participants didn't notice the woman, although more noticed her than the gorilla.
