Do you guys think that we, colored should be able to drive?
Troy, he is right. We can’t do a thing about it, this how we gotta work. But I do think we should be able to drive, as Lester said.
Yeah, I think we should be able to drive, but this is how things run Troy.
Yea, I understand. I want to talk about this with Mr.Rand.
Troy. What are you attempting to do? You can have a consequence for questioning our boss. You know that right?
Yea, I know but would you rather sit here and do nothing about it or stand up for yourself and your people. Alright, thanks, Fred and Lester. Imma head to Mr.Rand’s office to settle this.
Yea, ok Bono.
Bono, Imma talk with Mr.Rand, and talk about the situation.
Alright Troy. You go and talk with Mr.Rand. I'll wait for you outside.
Troy talks to Lester and Fred about what they think about the situation.
Hey Mr. Rand. I want to ask you something.
Why? Why you got the white mens driving and the colored lifting? What’s the matter, don’t I count? You think only white fellows got sense enough to drive a truck. That ain’t no paper job?
Go ahead Troy.
Troy then concludes to talk with his boss, Mr.Rand about the situation. (He walks to MR.RAND'S office)
Take it to the Union? Hell, that won’t fix anything. It’s simply a request.
Troy, you got to understand that this is how you will work. I can’t change the rules. If you have a complaint take it to the union!
(TROY finds BONO) Heading towards the office.
So what did he say?
Troy, you gotta understand that we can’t change or do anything about who we are and what role we take in society, specifically our job.
He said if I don’t get out of his office he was going to fire me. And for what?! They gonna fire me cause I asked a question?!
(Troy comes in) Troy protests and says everything he thinks about the Job conditions and unfairness or injustice they (colored) face.
Troy defeated, has no other choice than too exit the office without a change in his job.
Troy, I don’t want to have this discussion. Take it to the union and get out of my office or I will fire you.
(TROY walks out of the office. BONO questions him)TROY realizes that there is nothing he can do about the situation but hope for the best and continue to work hard to see if his boss would change his mind about letting a colored man drive the truck. But for now he will have to deal with the discrimination he is going through.
