Born in Sheffield, England in 1871 He died on 14 July 1948
Someone asked him to create a gun barrel that will not rust
In 1912 Harry Brearley was investigating different materials.
He was thinking about the type of materials that could use for making the gun rustless
At the beginning it seemed imposible. All materials tested were corroding with time
He was disappointed and abandoned his investigation
The noticed that one of the materials was still shinning
Several months later, he found by chance the materials he was testing
After he analyzed the material, he found that a steel with 12% chromium achieved stainless steel
Since its invention, people found many uses for Stainless Steel. Nowadays, Stainless Steel is used worldwide to make many useful objects. But something that Harry Brearly maybe did not know, is that Stainless Steel is a material already corroded.
