  • How Frogs Got Their Long Tongues
  • Faith Best
  • Frogs that have long tongues and frogs that have short tongues.
  • There are two types of frogs.
  • If a frog has a longer tongue, they'll have a better chance of catching a fly.
  • Since I have a short tongue, I can't catch many flies for food. :(
  • Frogs eat flies. We get our food by using our tongues.
  • I can't catch a lot of food with my short tongue. So, I'm not very fit.
  • Frog Offspring --->
  • Frogs with longer tongues are more fit. They'll be able to catch more food than frogs with shorter tongues.
  • These individuals will be able to survive, produce the most offspring, and pass along their genes.
  • Over time, the entire population will change until frogs become best adapted to their environment.
  • The environment selects for the fittest individuals by providing how successful individuals are at surviving.
  • That's how frogs got their long tongues.
