Kids are not able to get a good education to change their life because if in poverty, they can only afford to live in poor neighborhoods that do not have good schools. Commuting to better schools can be another problem because public transit is difficult for them to get.

In school colored students are treated differently than white students. Racism continues to play a huge role in society.

In these schools teachers spend more time repeating lessons. These schools are funded at rates many times lower than the schools in wealthier neighborhoods so they are unable to provide higher education such as a.p classes and better resources. Consequently the students are then less prepared and lack in their academic skills.

Test scores from 12,000 school districts in poor neighborhoods result underscore. It is difficult for schools to overcome the interlocking challenges created by the economic segregation of low income students. Therefore students in poverty have a high school graduation rate of 68%.
Students in poverty have hard times finding good places to study. At home it can be difficult because of the amount of family members who live in one home. Studying outside or even at school is too dangerous because of the poor neighborhood and high crime rates.
