  • Parliament  just decreed that James abdicated by deserting his kingdom.
  • WHAT?!
  • In 1689 King james ran away to France and his throne was given to William of Orange. 
  • The monarch is now forbidden from suspending laws or dispensing with law passed by Parliament
  • At this time parliament made it illegal  for the monarch to suspend or dispense with laws passed by parliament
  • No, no; I'm not okay
  • Parliament made it illegal  for the monarch to add taxes without parliaments consent.
  • I want to tax my subjects even more.
  • My lord you can not do such a thing without the consent of Parliament.
  • Excessive bail will not be required  neither excessive fines will be imposed, or cruel and unusual punishments will be inflicted 
  • Death for stealing a loaf of bread 
  • My Queen you can not do such a thing due to the English Bill of Rights.
