LGS Talks: Climate Change and how it will affect our generation!
Climate Change! It is affecting us greatly and rapidly.
The scene is set in LGS, where a seminar is taking place. In the seminar talks are taking place about how damaging and disastrous climate change will be for all man kind and how its affects will mostly be bore by the millennial generation.
OMG! This is so alarming!! We are heading towards a great disaster.
Inside the auditorium Ms. Zahra, a climate change observer, explains that climate change is about the abnormal variations that are taking place in the climate temperatures, and how this effects parts of the Earth and the humanity in general. She further explains that not only is the ecosystem getting destroyed but water shortages will take place and floods will also occur due to it.
I know! Can't believe that the climate change is not only destroying our ecosystem but at some places the temperature is so hot that mankind won't be able to live there in the future...
What are we going to do? This will directly impact us!
She further adds that due to climate change the glaciers in Himalayas will melt causing massive floods throughout our country, Pakistan. This will impact the lives of millions of residents. According to her Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable Countries to Climate Change, as it has low financial and technical resources to adapt to its adverse impacts.
We need to take action and quick. If we don't stop this now massive destruction will take place and we won't be able to reverse it then!!
The information being presented by Ms. Zahra had an alarming impact on the students. Among them were Hira, Kiran and Ali. When they heard that Pakistan can not bear the consequences of these rapid and adverse changes they got thinking as to what will happen to them and their families. Hira also conveyed her fears while talking to Kiran and Ali.
Ms. Zahra further added how flood can destroy or even wipe out the entire city of Lahore. This she says will be as the current congested drainage systems of Lahore will not be able to drain the great volume of water inflow and hence the out pour will occur. Apart from that she said that the frequency of droughts, cyclones, landslides will increase as well. Due to which Kiran and Ali were aghast.
Upon the questioning of the students on how can this change be reversed, Ms. Zahra said that by creating awareness, by using renewable energy to power supply, by reducing water waste, by driving fuel efficient vehicles and researching on this crisis to make yourself aware, this issue can be curbed and resolved. To this Hira, Kiran and Ali decided that they will take steps to end this crisis.
