  • MEET NICK
  • MEET THE BUCHANANS
  • JAMES GATZ
  • "I’m inclined to reserve all judgments, a habit that has opened up many curious natures to me..."  This quote shows that nick doesn't from his judgments too quickly. which will lead him to be pushed into several uncomfortable situations, like when he went to see Myrtle. this shows that nick is kind of a push over.
  • NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN
  • "They had spent a year in France for no particular reason, and then drifted here and there unrestfully wherever people played polo and were rich together." This quote shows us that Tom and Daisy are careless people and are carried through life by their money,
  • MYRTLE'S DEATH
  • "James Gatz—that was really, or at least legally, his name. He had changed it at the age of seventeen and at the specific moment that witnessed the beginning of his career—when he saw Dan Cody's yacht drop anchor over the most insidious flat on Lake Superior." This quote is important because it is Gatsby coming clean about his past and his not so glamorous start
  • DEATH OF THE GATSBY
  •  "And what's more, I love Daisy too. Once in a while I go off on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always come back, and in my heart I love her all the time." This quote shows that daisy will always love and come back to tom because he has her locked in a cage of feelings. Gatsby tried to change her mind, but when Tom talked to her after Myrtle's death they were closer than ever.
  • "You may fool me but you can't fool God" This shows how Wilson feels about the rich and how God sees all and that when the rich aren't free from Karma and revenge.
  • "no one arrived except more police and photographers and newspaper men. When the butler brought back Wolfsheim's answer I began to have a feeling of defiance, of scornful solidarity between Gatsby and me against them all. " This quote shows how alone Gatsby really was and that even Mr. Wolfsheim didn't come to his funeral. this shows the corruption of the rich and how everyone is fake and just uses you for your things or attention.
