  • On april 5th1765, tax was placed on molasses, coffee, sugar and wine
  • The sugar act
  • imported from non british isles. French rum and wine was also 
  • as order from the british parliament, there will now be taxes on sugar. 
  • illegal and there were harsh punishments for smuggling.
  • The citizens were also worried about the british parliament and 
  • their intent to more directly rule the colonies
  • this is unfair! we as citizens have rights to have the food we want and pay a fair price
  • in 1765, the stamp act was also intoduced
  • All citizens must have an official stam on all documents to show a tax has been payed

  • This law required all legal and commercial documents to
  • carry a stamp that represented a payed tax.
  • Why should we pay taxes and follow their laws when the British haven't let us be a part of their government?
  • Yes sir!
  • I need 100,000 men from your troops to stay back in the colonies after the war.
  • The quartering act
  • Soldiers will be allowed to take what thety please from your houses and to reject them is illegal
